7 WARNING SIGNS
OF DENGUE FEVER YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE
Dengue fever usually begins with a sudden, very high fever (up to 104°F). If you experience a rapid spike in temperature without clear cause, it’s important to be alert.
A constant, intense headache, especially around the forehead and behind the eyes, is a classic warning sign of dengue fever. It usually worsens with eye movement.
Sharp pain behind the eyes (retro-orbital pain) often accompanies the headache in dengue. It’s a distinct and uncomfortable symptom not common in regular flu.
Dengue is sometimes called “breakbone fever” because of the severe body aches it causes. Intense muscle, joint, and even bone pain is a major red flag.
A red rash resembling measles can appear within a few days of fever onset. It often starts on the chest and spreads to the limbs and face, signaling dengue progression.
Persistent nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort are common symptoms of dengue. Dehydration risk increases with these symptoms, so medical attention is critical.
Unusual bleeding like gum bleeding, nosebleeds, easy bruising, or blood spots under the skin can occur due to low platelet count, a dangerous complication of dengue.
